Westfield Insurance Foundation’s Legacy of Caring Fund Benefits Hesed House

Hesed House received a grant from Westfield Insurance Foundation thanks to the help of Esser Hayes Insurance Group.   The grant is part of the new Westfield Legacy of Caring program in which Westfield agencies across the country were invited to nominate a local nonprofit in the areas of disaster relief, insurance pathways, family stability or safety.

Hesed House’s Second Annual Dignity Ride

The Second Annual Dignity Ride to Benefit Hesed House will be held on August 28, 2016 at 8:00 AM beginning at Fox River Harley Davidson located in St. Charles, Illinois and ending at O’Malley’s Pub & Eatery located in Aurora, Illinois. Following the Dignity Ride, there will be an after party held at O’Malley’s. The after party will feature raffle baskets, live entertainment food and fun. You will not want to miss year’s event!

Hesed House Executive Director Announcement

Amidst much speculation and anticipation, the Hesed House Board of Trustees is thrilled to announce today that the next leader for Illinois’ 2nd largest comprehensive homeless shelter and resource center will be Ryan Dowd.

After reaffirming their sincere thanks to Michael Cobb, who recently resigned, for his service to the staff and guests of Hesed House, Board Chair John Ball announced that effective February 8, 2016, Ryan will return to Hesed House as the next executive director. Ball states, “We believe he is the right leader who possesses the vision and experience to guide us as we move forward with the goal of becoming one of the premier anti-poverty organizations fighting to end homelessness in the Fox River Valley!”

Leadership Change at Hesed House

Effective January 5, 2016, Michael Cobb has resigned from Hesed House. The members of the Board of Trustees express their sincere thanks to Michael for his service to the staff and guests of Hesed House and wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors. The Board is moving quickly and thoughtfully in search of our next Executive Director. Art for the Soul

Every Tuesday afternoon I carry a bag of art supplies upstairs to PADS in the hopes that a few guests may want to relax for an hour and experience some creative expression.  There are usually two to five people that I can coerce into joining in.  I have hope that more will join as art making IS contagious! Art and self expression can be a healing process that, among other things, allows a person to reflect on oneself, feel a sense of accomplishment, enhance one’s self image and self esteem, build a sense of identity, affirm life and decrease one’s sense of isolation.

Hesed House Welcomes Michelle Hess

We are excited to announce that Michelle Hess, CFRE, was recently appointed as Director of Development at Hesed House. Michelle will oversee all of Hesed House’s fundraising, volunteer, marketing and communication efforts alongside our development team of professionals.
 
Michelle stated, “I am excited to leverage my deep community roots and love for our community by joining one of our most important and vital organizations as part of the Hesed House family’s development team. Since walking through the door on day one, I feel like I have ‘come home’!”
