Every year, around the longest night of the year, Hesed House staff and guests gather to honor and remember the lives of our guests and other members of the Hesed family who are no longer with us.
We invite you to take a few moments to watch this video. In it, you will hear what hesed means to us in the voice and words of our Founder, Sister Rose Marie Lorentzen, BVM. She dedicated her life to caring for the vulnerable and changed the world through doing so. She passed away on December 20th, 2024, shortly before our Longest Night service took place. We will continue to care for our neighbors in need and live hesed in her memory, just as we invite you to do so.
I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip — he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you— the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. Psalm 121:1-8
