DONATION NOTICE

PLEASE NOTE – Hesed House is unable to accept large donations of clothing and/or other items. If you have a question about whether we can accept something, please email donate@hesedhouse.org. If you are considering holding a drive for Hesed House, please email drives@hesedhouse.org in advance of beginning your collections. Thank you for understanding!

Welcome, and thanks for your interest in serving our neighbors in need!

Volunteers play an important role at Hesed House, helping us care for our guests while providing hope and dignity! We rely on your generous support with serving donated meals to hundreds weekly, passing out hygiene products in our store, sorting through donation items, helping our move-out team get families into new homes, landscaping, and even cooking meals to feed our guests! Bring a group of your friends and family or serve individually in your free time!

First time volunteers are required to come in for a tour and brief orientation before serving onsite. Please email Adam, our Volunteer & Community Engagement Coordinator, at volunteer@hesedhouse.org to schedule a tour or sign-up for one of our shifts!

Friendly Reminders:

  • Must be at least 12 years old to volunteer onsite in the Adult Shelters (minors under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult chaperone)
  • Must be at least 18 years old to volunteer in our Family Shelter
  • Complete a Volunteer Profile so you can sign in each time you come to volunteer
  • ALL volunteers are scheduled in advance
  • Consider others in your network (friends, family members, co-workers, etc.) that might be interested in volunteering with you. Groups are a great fit for Hesed House!

Please reach out to Adam, our Volunteer & Community Engagement Coordinator, at volunteer@hesedhouse.org, at (630) 897-2156 ext. 516 or click here to learn more about our opportunities!

And in cases where volunteer projects involve interaction with children, background checks of applicants will be conducted prior to approving volunteer service. Hesed House and the Kane County Health Department require all volunteers to register in advance of, or upon arrival at Hesed House, for their volunteer service. The contact information you provide will be used for emergency notification purposes and not shared with outside sources.

Thank you for your interest in wanting to help change lives at Hesed House. We look forward to having you with us again in the future!
