Now in its second year, the new phase of the Volunteer Dental Ministry has made it possible for 48 of our guests – through 180 appointments – to receive follow-through dental care!
Our volunteers have been taking guests to dental appointments at Dr. DeLacey’s office in Warrenville for years, and in the last year or two, we have been blessed to be able to expand the dental ministry exponentially with partnerships at the Chicago Dental Society Foundation (CDSF) Clinic in Wheaton and Midwestern University in Downers Grove. The CDSF Clinic provides free cleanings, fillings, extractions and follow-through care with referrals to Midwestern University and other locations. Both are options for our guests when their insurance does not cover their dental needs at local dental offices accepting Medicaid or when guests do not have insurance. While we have not yet met the unyielding demand of serious dental work that our guests need, which can often lead to other serious health problems, we are on that path!
We are always looking for pairs of volunteer who have time during the day to participate in our Dental Ministry, giving not only rides to our guests but accompanying them on the path towards healthier (and happier) living which gives everyone something to smile about!
