It came upon the midnight clear,
That glorious song of old,
From angels bending near the earth,
To touch their harps of gold:
“Peace on the earth, goodwill to men
From heavens all gracious King!”
The world in solemn stillness lay
To hear the angels sing.
Recently our Transitional Living Community (TLC) had their annual Christmas celebration. The 48 residents went all out to ensure that everyone who attended experienced the true warmth of Christmas. You should have seen the spread that the residents put together. It was amazing to watch them as they worked together as one big TLC family cooking their favorite holiday dish and oh the sweet table was a big – and I mean HUGE – hit for all.
The children in attendance could not wait to share their singing abilities as they serenaded their guests with every Christmas carol imaginable in every key imaginable. Several staff also joined in the beautiful renditions of ”Silent Night,” “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” “It came upon a Midnight Clear” but when it came to “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” they drowned the poor little ones out with their excitement. The room was filled with joy and happiness and all the cares of the world were not invited to the celebration. This was our Hesed family time.
Hesed House is here to help provide a safe and nourishing atmosphere for those who may be away from their natural families, but can find solace with their Hesed House family which is made of many different creeds, nationalities and faiths. Despite these distinctions all are in need of and receiving true care from the larger Hesed family of which we consider you to be a vital part. This special night would not be possible without you.
Thank you for all that you do to help us provide all of our guests with more than just a shelter but with a place full of hope and possibilities. A place called Hesed House, a community called TLC, a home away from home.
Merry Christmas to all, Peace on Earth and goodwill to men.
